DUCTWORK AIRTIGHTNESS: A PRACTICAL GUIDE

Authors: Alain GUEDEL (CETIAT) and Pierre BARLES (PBC) in cooperation with : Mickael BLAZY and Benoît Golaz (LINDAB), Marc-Robert JEAN (ALDES), Alexandre SONET (FRANCE AIR), Laure MOURADIAN and Anne TISSOT (CETIAT)

Improving the airtightness of ventilation systems of residential and non-residential buildings is a must in order to reduce energy consumption while maintaining indoor air quality. Achieving a good ductwork airtightness requires to use efficient components, to fit them according to the rules of art, to check the airtightness of the installation by measuring the leakage rate and determining the tightness class network, and finally to operate the necessary adjustments if the expected performance is not reached. This guide is intended for owners, designers and network installers, ductwork components manufacturers, standardisation and inspection bodies. It details the entire process described above and contains illustrated examples and feedback from field experience.

EARTH TO AIR HEAT EXCHANGER SYSTEMS

Author: Julien HEINTZ (CETIAT), with the help of industrial members of the Ventilation Technical Commission (AERECO, ANJOS, ATLANTIC, NATHER, UNELVENT, VIM)

Earth to air heat exchanger is one of the best way to increase the energetic efficiency of buildings and thus reduce carbon dioxyde emissions. This new free guide is an information et preconisation tool about earth to air heat exchanger.

DIAGNOSIS OF VENTILATION SYSTEMS IN DOMESTIC AND COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS

Authors: Pierre-Jean VIALLE (CETIAT), Pierre BARLES (PBC), in collaboration with ADEME, AERECO, ALDES, ANJOS, FRANCE AIR Ventilation is necessary to bring sanitary air to the occupiers of the buildings and evacuate pollutants. Nowadays the buildings are more and more airtight and ventilation plays an essential part in the occupants health and the preservation of building. This guide presents a diagnosis method for mechanical ventilation systems: DIAGVENT. This guide intends to be a practical tool designed for professionals: engineering and design departments, control offices, experts, installers, maintenance companies. The aim of this guide is to be the expression of a practical knowledge, stemming from the Swedish experience applied to different cases in France and from investigations conducted in domestic and commercial buildings.

THE DIFFERENT WATER COOLING PROCESSES IN INDUSTRIAL AND COMMERCIAL INSTALLATIONS

CETIAT co-ordinator: Dominique HANTZ
In the context of the action plan 2004-2008 against legionella, the French ministry for ecology and sustainable development asked CETIAT to write this guide.
It sets out the different techniques applying to fluids cooling with their advantages and disadvantages as regards the legionella risk, but deals also with their energetic efficiency, their implementation and maintenance costs, the environmental impact of their operation.
Illustrated with practical examples, it gives companies technical elements to help them to choose the best adapted solution(s), taking into account the constraints as a whole.
